Enviromentally Friendly ChoiceMany shower roses still in use in New Zealand can use up to or in excess of 14 litres per minute. In the future where water will undoubtedly become one of our most precious resources (Especially in times & places effected by droughts). Saving as much water as possible will be critical to sustainability & affordability. The less water there is available the more expensive it will become. The Therapy Shower system typically uses less than 8 litres per minute; this is on average around 1 litre per minute less than most water saver shower heads. The replaceable Therapy Shower cartridge is easy to change & unlike some other shower filters you don't have to purchase virtually the whole unit again. Saving your money & the planet’s resources in the process.

Residual Cholorine RemovalWater quality tests show that the Therapy Shower removes up to 99% of chlorine - a harsh, unpleasant and toxic chemical used to disinfect bacteria in municipal tap water. Chlorine is absorped into skin when showering which damages skin cells by robbing them of vital nutrients. The effects of showering in chlorinated water can aggravate various skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, dryness and itching. By killing off vital nutrients in the skin cells, Chlorine also weakens skins natural defences contributing to prematurely aging. Additionally when showering chlorine vaporises in the atmosphere creating chlorine gas which you breathe internally, thereby also damaging you internal tissues and cells.

Vitamin CThe addition of Vitamin C neutralises the residual Chlorine from the shower water, it also feeds your skin with essential nutrients to provide better protection from external elements & leaves your skin feeling softer & smoother. Vitamin C is well known for its benefits to internal & external health, it is a key ingredient of most top shelf moisturising creams. When showering, the pores of your skin open up allowing for a greater absorption of the Vitamin C and skin cell hydration than when applied using creams. Therefore negating the need to use additional & often expensive moisturising lotions. Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, is key to the production of collagen, a protein that aids in the growth of cells and blood vessels and gives skin its firmness and strength. Vitamin C also helps create scar tissue and ligaments, and it helps your skin repair itself. It is also an antioxidant that slows the rate of free-radical damage -- free radicals being unstable molecules that damage collagen, causing skin dryness, fine lines and wrinkles. New research shows that ascorbic acid 2-phosphate, a derivative of vitamin C, not only neutralizes free radicals, but also reverses DNA damage.

CollegenCollagen is one of the natural building blocks for healthy skin, as we age & due to the effects of residual chlorine & other external elements such as prolonged sun exposure our ability to maintain healthy nutrient rich skin diminishes. A lack of collagen becomes evident during the aging process as skin begins to sag and lines and wrinkles begin to form. In a world first Waters Co Therapy Shower incorporates Collagen to nourish the skin, helping to restore natural youthful beauty by increasing the skins elasticity, reducing wrinkles and other signs of ageing. Collagen is another key ingredient of most top shelf moisturising creams. When showering, the pores of your skin open up allowing for a greater absorption of the Collagen and skin cell hydration than when applied using creams. Therefore negating the need to use additional & often expensive moisturising lotions. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) defines collagen as a durable, glue-like substance that makes up one-third of body protein. Collagen is a network of fibrous proteins that contains high levels of the amino acids proline and hydroxyproline. Collagen plays a vital role in skin health. It maintains its firmness and elasticity. Collagen, in the form of collagen hydrolysate, also helps keep skin hydrated. Cartilage, Joints & Bones Cartilage is the hard but slick tissue that coats the ends of bones where they come together to form a joint. The combination of collagen mesh and water forms a strong and slippery pad in the joint that cushions the ends of the bones in the joint during muscle movement. Healthy cartilage allows bones to effortlessly slide over one another. Osteoarthritis Osteoarthritis can develop slowly as a joint loses cartilage. This degenerative joint disease often occurs in the joints of the hip, spine, knees, fingers and feet. According to the Johns Hopkins Arthritis Center, stimulating the production of collagen may help cartilage to repair itself.
